The 10 Best Rooftop Bars in Florence (Worth Going Up For)
Getting through summer in Florence is no walk in the park — unless you take in the city from above. Rooftops are one thing Florence isn’t short on: some are made for aperitivo, others for working or studying, but they all have one thing in common — a gorgeous view over the city.
We’ve tried our fair share, and between luxury hotels and panoramic terraces, these are the ones worth going up for:
1. Cosimo Rooftop
Right in the center, a few steps from the Duomo, you’ll find Cosimo Rooftop. A little tucked away and not especially crowded with locals — but once you’re up there, it’s hard not to come back: thoughtful décor, a great cocktail list, and above all a 360° panoramic terrace over the city.
2. W Florence
One of the more recent openings, the W Florence and its huge blue “W” dominate the skyline, making the terrace instantly recognizable. A new cocktail list and an international atmosphere make for something different from the usual Florentine aperitivo — and a good excuse to explore a part of the city that’s changing fast.
3. The Social Hub Lavagnini
Easily one of the best-known rooftops in the city, and it never stops buzzing. The Social Hub is open at any hour to work, study, or simply soak up the view over the city and the pool with a cocktail in hand.
4. The Social Hub Belfiore
Less well-known than its Lavagnini sibling — for now — but no less worth a visit. Roomy spaces, a modern feel, and a terrace that’s perfect for an aperitivo or a few hours of studying or working.
5. Caffetteria delle Oblate
Maybe the best value-for-money terrace in Florence. Right in the center, and free to get into, it puts you face to face with the dome of the Duomo — all while sipping something as simple as a coffee, or browsing the library that houses the café.
6. La Loggia Roof Bar — Palazzo Guadagni
We’re in Santo Spirito now. Palazzo Guadagni is home to a wonderful terrace, La Loggia Roof Bar, looking out over the whole piazza from above. A great spot for a glass of wine or a cocktail at sunset, and ideal for anyone after a more authentic side of Florence.
7. Angel Roofbar & Dining — Hotel Calimala
One of the most talked-about rooftops of recent years, with a wonderful view over Palazzo Vecchio and the Duomo. The breathtaking outlook, the small pool, and the manicured garden at the Angel Roofbar will leave you speechless.
8. Empireo Rooftop View American Bar & Pool — Plaza Hotel Lucchesi
Inside the Hotel Lucchesi, the Empireo Rooftop and its infinity pool up on the roof have become almost a symbol of the Florentine summer. From here you can see the Arno and all of Florence from a whole new angle.
9. The Rooftop Bar — Grand Hotel Minerva
The Grand Hotel Minerva looks straight out over Santa Maria Novella and has one of the most storied rooftops in the city: The Rooftop Bar. Elegant, but never stuffy. Perfect for dinner or an aperitivo with a view of Santa Maria Novella.
10. 701 Rooftop Bar
Tucked between Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria is 701 Rooftop Bar. On the top floor of the Gallery Hotel Art, it feels different from the other rooftops: less hectic, quieter. It’s the right spot if you want to drink something slowly and just sit and watch the city, with no noise around you.
