Nuova vita a piazza Indipendenza e dintorni
Qualche esempio? Fuoco Matto, quasi all’angolo con piazza Indipendenza, ristorante spazioso e aperto

Piazza Indipendenza is not the same anymore. The area between via XXVII aprile and via Nazionale, considered up until recently one of the less recommended, is up for a new life and new experiences.
Everything started a year and a half ago, when new businesses decided to open there and were capable of attracting a conspicuous flux of «come back Florentines». Some examples?
Fuoco Matto, almost on the corner with piazza Indipendenza, a spacious restaurant open to the city, in every sense. The young chef Matteo di Monte runs the kitchen. He is a pupil of Vito Mollica from Four Seasons’ Palagio in Florence, considered one of the best restaurants in Italy and close to Entiana Osmenzeza when chef at Se.Sto on Arno. At the core of the project Carlo Nigro and his team with 10 years of experience in the pizzeria business.
Fuoco Matto prepares the real Neapolitan pizza cooked in wood oven, thick but also easy to digest but has got much more to offer. In just a bit more than a year it,s collected two thousands reviews on TripAdvisor, more than half rates it «excellent». The magazine Espresso has included it in the list of restaurant you need to try in Florence. Its secret? Good food and great hospitality: very often you can find handmade beer tastings, special wines, excellent Made in Italy gastronomy products and also meet the producers. This is because Fuoco Matto wants to be a window on the city, hosting charity events and associations but also more «didactic» occasions where you can learn to appreciate the different types of meat (they cook a fantastic grilled Calvanina, a local beef).
Among the new businesses in the area there is the curious Fox in a Box, the first room escape experience born in the city. It’s a real escape from a locked down room where you go with a group of people (from 2 to 5). To get out you need to solve a series of enigmas. The rooms have got different themes and the experiences vary. There are 60 minutes to save the world from a new war or to try to rob a bank. A situation full of adrenalin that is perfect for team-building sessions or for a night out with friends, even a stag night.
To bring back life to a piece of Florence, nothing better than a day in the company of friends and a pizza. •
