The Florentine galleries Frascione Arte and Aria Art Gallery present the latest edition of the Timelessness. From February 13th to March 30th in the newly opened space of Frascione Gallery in Palm Beach, Florida.
The interconnections between Old Masters and contemporary artists unfold as a multifaceted exploration of art through time. The artworks engage in a rich dialogue across centuries, delving into diverse themes, techniques, concepts, and interpretations, contributing to the overarching narrative of the Timelessness Project.
After successful editions aligning with the Biennale of Antiques in Florence since 2015, the 2022 edition of the Timelessness Project emerged through collaboration between Aria Art Gallery and Frascione Arte. This collaboration, driven by a singular objective, materialized in a dual exhibition curated by Nataša Radojević, the artistic director since then.
In 2023, Frascione Arte expanded its influence by establishing a new venue in Palm Beach (Florida), currently hosting the Timelessness Project. The project actively encourages a reexamination of art history, fostering an ongoing dialogue between past and present artistic expressions, drawing a timeline that spans from the past to the present, emphasizing similarities, differences, and evolutions. The comparison and continuity between paintings from the Old Masters and works by contemporary internationally renowned and emerging artists will broaden the perspectives of the viewer.

Oil on gold leaf applied to panel, 42 x 32 cm, ca. 1640.

‘It is the style and attitude that recurs in one of the most refined and sensual artists of the Venetian Baroque, Girolamo Forabosco. He was a specialist in female portraits, appreciated in particular for the attention given to clothing. In this artwork, the tenderness of craftsmanship really envelops the magnanimity of Christ. The painting is enriched by a thin sheet of pure gold.
The material on which Nicola Samorì designed his work is precious and millennia-old. An onyx that shows a deep wound in the center, running diagonally with wrinkled branches to the left, is actually a geode that over millions of years and in the heart of a mountain, has sedimented a mineral budding within the stone block.
The painting by the Romagna artist, titled Well of the Prophet is organized around this pre-ex- isting gash. Around it, just as if it were the vera of a well, he has painted the divine face. A face, mirroring Forabosco’s, that simultaneously overlooks and is swallowed by the well of ancestral substance. Samori’s loving act of patient reparation distills from the blood and tears of history a secnd life of the Prophet.’ Massimo Pulini.

A liquid diaphragm also marks the distance from Diango Hernandez ’s young woman, whom we see beyond the deformations of a marbled glass. She too is painted in a three-quarter view with a sideways gaze, and has close-cropped hair and a pronounced neck. However, like a Baroque pearl, the face is deformed by being subjected to aberrations that alter its features and exaggerate its expressions.
The relationship therefore that is established with Bugiardini’s painting does not seek proximity; rather, the two paintings meet on the path of contrast. Indeed, the firm linearity of that crisp six- teenth-century drawing finds the response of a vibrant distortion, pushed to exaggerated levels that border on the grotesque. – Massimo Pulini
